As the year 2022 comes to a close, it is time to look back and reflect on the most newsworthy events in the solar industry worldwide. From technological advancements to new investments, here are some of the highlights of this past year in solar energy.

One of the biggest stories of 2022 was China’s continued dominance in solar power production. The country has been investing heavily in renewable energy sources over the past few years, and its efforts have paid off – by 2022, China had become one of the world’s largest producers of solar energy. In addition, Chinese companies began expanding their presence into other countries around the world, with many setting up large-scale projects in Southeast Asia and Africa.

The United States also made headlines last year with several major developments related to solar energy production. First, President Biden signed an executive order that committed his administration to achieving 100% clean electricity by 2035 – a goal that will be largely powered by renewable sources such as solar energy. Additionally, Congress passed legislation that provided billions of dollars in tax credits for businesses and homeowners who installed rooftop solar panels or participated in community-based projects across America.

In Europe, Germany announced plans to reach net zero emissions by 2050 – another ambitious commitment that will require significant investment into renewable energy sources like solar power. France also made news this year when it became the first European country to set a binding target for transitioning away from fossil fuels entirely by 2040 – putting it ahead of other nations on climate action goals.

Finally, India made headlines when it unveiled its National Solar Mission – an ambitious plan aimed at increasing India’s total installed capacity from 22 GW (gigawatts) today to 175 GW by 2022. This would make India one of the leading producers of clean electricity globally and could help reduce carbon emissions significantly across South Asia as well as provide much needed access to affordable electricity for millions living without power today.

Overall, there were numerous positive developments throughout 2022 related to renewable energies such as solar power which bodes well for global efforts towards reducing our dependence on fossil fuels and fighting climate change going forward into 2023 and beyond!
